Frequently asked questions

We pitch our campsites near water sources. Two litres of water should be sufficient for your trek. You will find water sources on the trek to refill your water bottles. Your trek leader will brief you about these before starting the day’s trek.

During the trek, toilet tents will be set up along each campsite. In a toilet tent, there will be a deep pit where one can answer nature's call. There will be a mound of soil and a shovel to cover it up. You'll have to use toilet paper in these dry toilets. This is the most hygienic and convenient way to answer nature’s call into the wild. Please use plain toilet paper and refrain from using wet wipes since these are not biodegradable.

If it rains, we will continue our trek as planned. Rain should not be a problem if you have a poncho. Carry a backpack cover for extra protection from rain for your belongings.

Alcohol is dangerous in extreme cold, especially at high altitudes. Contrary to what people believe, alcohol does not make you warmer. Instead, it opens your pores, making your body colder. Moreover, it dehydrates you very quickly. Hence consumption of alcohol is absolutely prohibited on all Nomad Adventures treks. Anyone found with alcohol is quickly removed from the trek. Nomad Adventures treks also prohibit smoking.

However, there are shops on the base camp in Lohajung that rent shoes, jackets, trekking poles, headlamps, etc.

You don’t need special snowshoes. For the trek, a good waterproof trekking shoe is sufficient. When there is snow, we provide micro spikes and gaiters.

Trekking poles provide stability, balance, and fatigue reduction.

The minimum age limit is 7 years. A parent or guardian should accompany minors between 7 and 17 years old. The trek is open to anyone below 65 as long as they follow a fitness regimen before participating.

Brahmatal is an easy trek but requires trekkers to be physically fit. The minimum age eligibility is 7 years. If your child is capable of adapting to mountain conditions and walking every day, then indeed yes! It is recommended to maintain good physical stamina before coming on the trek.

Lohajung is the last electricity charging point. You’ll get a full network in Lohajung and intermittent signals around the campsites and Brahmatal summit. However, come prepared for the possibility of power cuts. It is good to carry your power banks and extra batteries for your camera.

All female trekkers share a room or tent with their female co-trekkers.

All high-altitude treks come with their share of risks. We pay utmost importance to the safety of trekkers. While we do our bit to ensure a trekker is safe, we also expect any trekker who is enrolling with us to know what could go wrong, and if it does, how to tackle it.

You can leave some luggage at the base camp in Lohajung since you will be starting and returning to the same point. However, make sure you do not leave any valuables. Any loss or damage to belongings is not the responsibility of Nomad Adventures.

Please inform us in advance if you intend to offload your backpack so that the required arrangements can be done.

    Brahmatal Winter Trek

Well the Brahmatal Trek was the first ever trek I have done in my life. I am very happy that I got the opportunity to do this with Nomad Adventures as the support/organizing staff and Team here was and will always remain a great memory for me. The Way the trek Leaders helped throughout. They showed tremendous patience and were extremely knowledgeable and I definitely learn a lot from doing this trek with them. The food prepared by kitchen Staff/chef sent along was just amazing and so close to home cooked food, that I couldn't stop licking my fingers every meal. Yes, this trek is the right one for beginners as many have already pointed out before, but having the right trek guides like we had ( Surya bhai and Aman bhai) was a blessing in disguise. I would definitely love to do more treks with the Nomad Adventures Group and I wish them loads of success in the future. Hope that our paths cross again soon someday.
