Spiti is located in the northeastern state of Himachal Pradesh. The name “Spiti” means the middle land between Tibet and India. Spiti is accessible both from Shimla and Manali. Spiti is a perfect place to unwind where the whole valley turns white. You can explore this valley throughout the year. But winter months are ideal if you want to see this under a thick blanket of snow. That’s what makes the Winter Spiti tour so desirable. This place fills your heart with the chill breeze, warmth, mesmerizing natural beauty, and serene views of the valley. Spiti valley is famous for its beautiful landscapes and cultural heritage. It is home to monasteries, snow-capped peaks, glaciers, high passes, glittering lakes and tiny hamlets dotted all over the region. One of the most popular lakes in Spiti is the Chandratal lake, which is quite popular among travellers and is on everyone’s bucket list.
During September and October is when the weather starts changing. Days will be a bit warm and sunny but during the night it will be chilly, the temperature goes down from 15 degrees to 5 degrees. September is undoubtedly our best month to visit where the autumn season brings vivid colours to the view. Orange leaves and trees add magnificent beauty all around Spiti. Spiti valley is famous for apples, you can taste the local apples once you are around Tabo and Kaza from November, when winter actually starts embracing Spiti. Exploring the valley during these months is surely a rewarding one. While travelling in November, there is heavy snow and one might be careful while traversing during this month. It is very important to know the temperature in advance therefore it is important to know the best route.
Dec to Feb: Will have snow in abundance and these are the best months to enjoy the winter road trip to Spiti.
March to June: During these months the weather is quite pleasant hence making it one of the best stargazing destinations in India. The high-altitude villages are perfect to gaze at the milky way. During the night is sky is filled with stars, and far from the chaos of the world this place is a paradise.

The key to staying comfortable while on an active trip is layering. To get maximum comfort with minimum weight, you need versatile layers that mix and match to create the right amount of insulation, ventilation, and weather protection. The tour coordinator will meet at the pick-up point ( RK Ashram /Majnu ka Tila) by 09:00 PM. Small briefing regarding the trip We will depart for the overnight journey from Delhi to Shimla.
We will reach Shimla next morning via the Hindustan-Tibet highway. From here we will depart to Chtikul/Sangla via Tempo traveller. Upon reaching Chitkul/Sangla, we will check into our hotels. Overnight stay and dinner will be served in Chitkul/Sangla.
• After breakfast, we will head towards Kalpa which is known for its apple orchards. En route Kalpa, The small town of Reckong Peo town, serves as the perfect pit stop. If there are clear views, you will be able to catch a glimpse of Kinner Kailash Peak. Upon reaching Kalpa, the team will spend some time enjoying the views then we’ll head out to visit the 3000-year-old Kalpa Monastery and the Suicide Point which offers a picturesque view of the Kailash ranges. Overnight stay and dinner will be served in Kalpa.
After having breakfast, we’ll continue our journey towards Nako, located 360 m above sea level in the Himalayan range of Kinnaur district. En route, we will make a pit stop at Khab, a beautiful village on India – the Tibet border. In Nako, we’ll visit the serene Nako lake and visit the ancient Nako Monastery. Dinner and overnight stay at Nako.
Post breakfast, we will head towards Kaza, a small town filled with pristine rivers, picturesque landscapes and ancient culture. We will visit the more than thousand-year-old Tabo Monastery followed by the Dhankar Monastery. We’ll reach Kaza before evening and will check in to our respective homestay/hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at Kaza.
Post breakfast, we’ll head out to visit Key Monastery locally known as Kye Gompa, followed by Chicham Bridge which is Asia’s highest bridge. Later in the day, we will visit the highest post office in the world, Hikkim. After that, we’ll move towards Komic village which is one of the highest villages in the world connected by a motorable road. Lastly, will visit the land of fossils, Langza, and visit the Buddha statue that sits on top of a hill overlooking the village. Finally, we’ll head back to Kaza where we will have dinner and spend the night.
After breakfast, we will start our return journey to Kalpa. We will reach Kalpa by evening where we will have dinner followed by an overnight stay.
Resume our return journey after breakfast and head towards Shimla. Upon reaching Shimla, we will board an overnight bus towards Delhi.
Trip ends with beautiful memories.
Spiti Valley is open all around the year but it is recommended to visit under expert guidance otherwise conditions can become fatal too. The reason is that Spiti receives heavy snowfall and the area becomes highly dangerous for enthusiasts or travellers.
The distance from Kaza to Manali is approx 183ms/ 4 hours including leisure and the pit stops that we make.
Shimla and Lahaul are 418 kilometres apart, and it takes us about 16 hours to travel there, including rest stops and leisure time, while we are doing a winter road trip through the Spiti valley.
Although the road from Manali to the Spiti Valley is always accessible, it is not advised to drive there alone in the winter because of the dangerous changes imposed by heavy snowfall.
Although the Spiti Valley experiences cold temperatures all year round, the winters are much colder. It gets to be -30 degrees outside. . But because the entire valley is covered in a thick layer of snow during the winter, particularly from February to May, that is when we organise the winter Spiti valley road trip.
Throughout the journey, we give hygienic and nourishing food. Since the Spiti valley winter tour involves visiting numerous settlements, it will not only be tasty but will also be prepared with locally grown products. However, if you have a particular dietary preference—for example, vegetarian food or food without onions—we can make accommodations in advance.
Stay will be in Hotels, camping or homestays. During all of our specified stays, we have ensured that the most fundamental amenities, like running water and sanitary facilities, are provided.
The distance between Delhi and Lahaul Spiti is 712 Kilometers. After reaching Delhi airport, you can take an overnight bus to Chandigarh or Shimla. For your return journey to Delhi, you need to travel by road only.
We offer both double sharing and triple sharing rooms. Depending on the package you book, you will be provided with accommodation accordingly.
We hire the best-in-class vehicle on the mountain passes and rocky roads of Spiti. For the Spiti valley winter road trip, the on-ground vehicle that we use to travel in is Tempo Traveller.
We won't be undertaking any trekking activity hence trekking shoes are not required though good pair of shoes that have proper soles and are equally comfortable is recommended. You might need a good pair of shoes when traversing. A pair of Quechua or Forclaz shoes available at Decathlon will do.
Himalayan water is considered completely safe to drink. But for safety purposes, we boil the water and then use it for drinking and cooking.

Yes definitely, we have almost an equal ratio of males/females on our trips. Female Trekkers share Room/Tent with female co-trekkers and the same applies to others.
If you're coming from Delhi, then consider the route via Shimla to be the best one as the scenic views are astounding. Also, it is good to acclimatize yourself before heading into the valley. The route is a bit longer which makes up for a good road trip if this factor is taken into consideration.
